The fan motif of this stained-glass wall is a direct quote from the Art Deco aesthetic of the 1930s. The goal, however, was to free ourselves from it.
The design is the result of my collaboration with the artist Marie Fèl in whose studio the glass wall takes its place today. Far from the usual Art Deco treatment of color and lead structures, I focused on the impression of lightness of this motif that unfolds over 3 m high. To cultivate its elegance, I chose a minimalist lead network: a simple rhythm of horizontals. On the other hand, the work of the leads in the fan motif is much more sophisticated: the painting often extends them, thus losing the eye in a set of floating shapes of which we do not know if they are painted or assembled in lead.
The bright red used to paint the lines that draw the fans also reinforces the impression of liveliness of the whole. Each straight line was painted and traced by hand for a meticulous work where the variations in the red paint give a lively vibratory impression to the composition.
