These drawings explore the theme of the Virgin Mary. Trying to step outside of the traditional 19^th century representations of this religious figure, I found a more personal approach by looking for new sources of inspiration. Among them are the nativity figures made in Southern France from which I derived this interpretation of the Virgin.
