A Meeting at the Studio

Every project begins with a meeting at the studio. This is when we draw the first outline of the project: the location, the intended function of the stained glass, the technical requirements and lighting conditions. It is also an opportunity to explore the artist’s creative world, the types of glass used, and how they transform light. For Marie, this first meeting sets the tone for the entire project: the artistic direction is envisioned, and budgets and timelines are defined. It lays the foundation for the work to come.

Creation

Following this meeting, the design phase begins. Every drawing is crafted by hand, offering artistic proposals that resonate with the ideas discussed during the initial consultation. The goal is to arrive at a composition that integrates as harmoniously as possible into its intended space. Each design is custom-made and, therefore, entirely unique. These are truly "original" stained-glass works.

Fabrication and Installation

The stained-glass pieces are crafted entirely by hand in the studio. Sheets of glass are cut, painted, and sandblasted; each piece is transformed according to the approved design and then assembled in lead rods. Every step is carried out with passion, meticulous attention to detail, and enthusiasm, culminating in the final installation on-site.

Marie Grillo works with a network of trusted collaborators and partners with whom she has built a long-standing professional relationship. These reliable teams are well-versed in the technical requirements of the craft, allowing them to work together with complete autonomy. Specifically for: 

• ironwork projects; the creation of industrial-style glass partitions, sliding doors, metal frames, and interior partitions; and the fabrication of skylights.
• window renovation or replacement (including upgrades to meet thermal standards), the creation of wooden industrial-style glass partitions, and bespoke interior design/fittings.
